Enchanting

Any blacksmith may shape metal; enchanting persuades it to remember power. With materials reclaimed by Disenchanting and bars supplied through Smelting, I prepare enchanted materials and scrolls that can add lasting attributes to equipment. Try not to confuse this with common ornamentation—the jewelcrafter does enough of that for both of us.

Getting started

A warning for those working from old scrolls

Study with someone qualified

  • Night Harbor: Enchanter Haffiz is in Spellbinders of the Spire beside the Enchanting tool, visible from afar as a bright purple orb.
  • Faelindral: Enchanter Wyrel is above the Inn. Go up the ramp, bear left, and follow the signs; Wyrel is above Vaelyndir the Jewelcrafter and beside Disenchanter Gwendyl.

Tools worthy of the work

  • Tome of Enchantment: Sold by Enchanting Supplies vendors in Night Harbor and Faelindral.
  • Trainee's Tome of Enchantment: Granted to characters who choose the Enchanter minor non-combat trait.
  • Enchanting Stations: Documented near the Night Harbor docks, in Spellbinders of the Spire, and in Faelindral.
  • A Disenchanting Cube and training in Disenchanting are strongly recommended.

Applying an enchantment

  1. Right-click an enchantment scroll; your hands should glow with light-blue smoke.
  2. Click the equipment item you wish to enchant.
  3. Do not jump or move during the process, as either can interrupt it.
  • Equipment retains its enchantment when traded to another player.
  • Selling enchanted equipment to a vendor removes the enchantment without changing the vendor's purchase price.
  • Equipment holds only one enchantment at a time; a new enchantment replaces the old one.
  • Non-Enchanter classes can fail while crafting scrolls in the Tome. Enchanter-class characters have a recorded 100% success rate.
