Captain Vaelric Ironbark accepts the scroll and offers you a curt nod. His gaze is stern and piercing as he seems to immediately size up your worth in a heartbeat.
Good. The Wyrdguard are in need of strong arms. I'm glad that you've answered the call.
I would induct you immediately if I could, but first, we must make sure you're capable of arming yourself before I can entrust you to the field.
Captain Vaelric Ironbark turns your note around and scrawls something on the back before handing it back to you.
Take this note to Craftguard Vinebrow at the garrison forge. He'll instruct you further. Dismissed..

Craftguard Vinebrow snatches the note and scans the contents quickly. Nodding, he trusts a small kit into your hand while gesturing toward the nearby weapon racks.
Take this kit and grab yourself a used blade from the rack, recruit. The Wyrdguard don't carry rusted filth onthe the field.
Once you've chosen a blade, place it in the kit along with the bar of wax to bring out the blade's luster. Show it to me once you've finished.
I'll be here if you have any questions.

Put together the Patinated Elven Blade and the Wasp Wax Bar in the Sharpening Kit.
Craftguard Vinebrow holds the blade aloft and gazes down its length, inspecting your work. After a short moment, he offers a grunt of satisfaction and returns the blade to you.
Your bevel could use some work, but that will comme with practice. You've managed to deburr the edge, and that's the most important part.
A burr folding over the edge of a blade can easily form a chip. A chip can lead to a fragile blade, and a fragile blade can lead to death.
Now, take your weapon and show it to Captain Ironbark. Inform him that you're ready to set out... and don't forget to maintain your equipement!.

Well done. You've chosen yourself a suitable weapon. I'm confident now that I can send you to the forest floor.
Are you ready for your first assignment ?
You say
You enter/say I am ready.
Take this pouch. Descend to the forest floor and rid it of the undead that have recently made a presence there.
If you can fill the bag with their shattered skulls, you'll have taken your first step toward becoming a true Wyrdguard and protecting the Weald from unnatural threats.
Captain Vaelric Ironbark briskly salutes you before offering one last piece of advice.
...And don't venture into the ruins, young one. Too many have tried.

From here on, you have two choices. Go back to the starting lift (do not take the lift close to the quest npc) and drop 4 Shattered Skull from Rottings Skeletons roaming in the zone. Or buy them and fuse them in the bundle. Then, give it back to Captain Vaelric Ironbark.
Game
Captain Vaelric sighs in relief as you return with the filled pouch of skulls. He sets it aside with a nod.
I was dreading that I may have sent a young warrior to their doom, but you've shown that you can look after yourself out in the Weald.
I can now confidently issue you this emblazoned chain as a sign of your induction as a novice of the Wyrdguard.
When you have a little more experience in the field, report yourself to Commander Elydris Stormbough and display your chain shirt to her.
She'll proceed with your induction and likely assign you a new task. Shades protect you. Dismissed, novice!

Report to Commander Stormbough

At level 4, show your Novice Chain to the commander and accept her note.

(Level 4 is needed) Give your Novice Chain of the Wyrdguard to Commander Elydris Stormbough
Commander Elydris Stormbough inspects the state of your chainmail and nods approvingly. She returns it to you, alongside a rolled note.
Allow me to introduce myself. I am Elydris Stormbough, Commander of the Wyrdguard, and I humbly thank you for adding your strength to our own.
As you have no doubt noticed out on the field, the presence of undead and orcs has become egregious. They must be contended with.
Our scouts are already looking into their source, while the druids counter their foul magic. I am assigning all available fighters to combat this presence through force of arms.
Are you willing to participate on the front lines?
You say
You enter/say yes
Commander Elydris Stormbough offers a satisfactory nod.
Commander Elydris Stormbough hands you a note.
Take the note I have given you to Craftguard Vinebrow. I believe you have already been acquainted, yes? He is to help you improve the weapon that you found in the armoury.
Once you have had your weapon worked on, return to me for further instruction. If you misplaced your weapon, you will have to inform Vinebrow. Though I pray you do not have to.

Bring the commander's note. Combine four Copper Bars and two Cloth Scraps in the supplied satchel; return it with your Tarnished Elven Blade.

Craftguard Vinebrow accepts the note and gives it a quick glance, acknowledging the message with a firm nod.
I hope you've learned by now how important it is to have a proper weapon! Though it appears the commander would like to see you wielding something that isn't just a polished edge.
I think I know what your blade needs, but we're currently running low on ore for smelting. Would you be able to help get me some supplies?
You say
You enter/say I will get supplies.
I'll need about four copper bars and two cloth scraps for what I have in mind. Mine it, buy it, smelt it... I don't care how you get it.
Just get everything into that satchel and pack it up neatly before returning to me, along with your blade.
Hmm, good. This should be enough. Give me one moment while I stoke the forge.
Craftguard Vinebrow separates your blade from the hilt and begins heating the worn steel until it becomes molten. He inspects the metal curiously, then gives it a few strikes with his hammer and lets out a grunt of satisfaction.
Craftguard Vinebrow proceeds to similarly heat the copper and incorporate it into your blade, folding the two metals together into an alloy. He then quenches the revitalized blade and reassembles the hilt, wrapping it in the cloth.
Very interesting. You found this in the weapon racks, did you? That steel doesn't normally fuse so well with copper.
I'd love to experiment further with it, but I'm not about to leave one of our young fighters without a blade. Here, you can bring this back to the Commander to show her your equipped.
And don't lose this one! I feel like we can do more with it when the time is right.
Craftguard Vinebrow hands you the Bronzed Elven Blade.

Commander Elydris Stormbough examines your blade and offers a satisfied nod.
A curious alloy, but that is a discussion for another time. What matters now that it is able to strike at the enemy force quickly and efficiently.
Here, take your weapon back, along with this satchel.
You will be part of this strike, fighter. Our fighters have been tasked with engaging the orcish encampments that have sprung up along the southeastern cliffs. Are you ready to participate in the assault?
You say
You enter/say yes
Fellstone forces have hidden themselves amongst the cliffs and ruins, so we have not been able to determine their precise location from the heights of Faelindral.
We suspect they have a talented scout leader who is helping keep their emplacements concealed. You are to locate these camps and assault them until you have drawn out this leader of theirs.
Commander Elydris Stormbough hands you a satchel.
Fill the satchel with the belts of their warriors, then return it to me along with the scout leader's head and your novice chain.
Commander Elydris Stormbough checks the satchel's contents and confirms the orcish equipment, alongside the trophy head. She nods.
An impressive feat for a novice, well done. The orcs will dare not forget this strike when they attempt to match themselves against the might of the Wyrdguard.
I had this prepared for you, fighter, as the news of your victory was forseen. Wear it with pride.
You are dismissed for now; however, you should take this opportunity to practice your dance with that weapon. I am certain that Vinebrow would be interested in seeing it once it has endured a few more deployments.
