Ah, a new performer! Caught Naerith's eye, did you? Or perhaps her ears.
Either way, we always welcome young talent into the Willow. Hopefully you're eager to get started, as one of our top performers just informed us that she isn't able to make the stage tonight.
Pine Brightreed lets out a whimsical sigh.
This is an opportunity to get acquainted with some of our more esteemed patrons... albeit not under the best circumstances.
Pine Brightreed takes a satchel from his belt and offers it to you with a wry grin.
Pine Brightreed says, Say, so you think you could do me a little favor?
You say
You enter/say Hmm.. Ok, I will do you a favor.
A lot of people were looking forward to hearing Naerith
perform tonight, but unfortunately she's been caught up in some ... other obligations.
I need you to gift these vouchers to all the patrons who bought a
ticket to Naerith's performance tonight. Take this as a chance to get acquainted with the city!
Since she won't be available, the vouchers are good for one other
free performance of their choice.
You'll be looking for Sylvosa Pineweld, Wyrdguard Mithrilvine,
Listener Maplebloom, Lorinthal Skybranch, and Sersil Tangleroot,
Bring back their original tickets along with any remaining
vouchers, and I'll make sure that you get some time in the spotlight!
And if you need more information on any individual patron, just
ask. I should be able to point you in their general direction, at least.

Sersil Tangleroot spreads his arms in a gesture that encompasses everything around him.
All of Evershade Weald would not be as it is without the benevolence of our fae benefactors. It was not through the grace of any gods that our forest has thrived over the course of many cataclysms.
It is only through the intervention of the Fae Realms that we survive here at all, so why should we imprison ourselves in a world which has so often sought to cast us out?
We Faelewyn should disassociate ourselves with the other races of this land, and embrace the teachings and comforts of the Seven Courts. Only then can our people finally be at peace.
Sersil Tangleroot says, Spread this message to any kin who would hear it, so that they too can revel in the wisdom of the fae.
Thank you for listening, young bard, and please keep my words in mind. Here is my ticket. I do hope that Naerith is able to reschedule soon.

You'll want this basket for any donations you get. What do you say? Would you be willing show us your talents by means of a small performance?
Pine Brightreed gestures toward a nearby shelf of used instruments, shooting you a playful grin.
Take a look at our assortment of public instruments on the shelf next to Ilyra, then pick out one that you like! A lot of them have seen better days, but I'm sure you can find something that's at least playable.
Once you have something suitable, all you need to go is go out and take the stage to start your performance! Then return to me once you have a basket full of donations along with the instrument that you borrowed.

You take the stage for the first time and offer a bow to the patrons of the Willows Whisper. Pine shouts out a brief introduction as you ready the odd recorder in your grip. For a brief moment, it feels as though it wants to slide out of your hands, but you shrug it off as mere nerves.
Game
You bring the recorder to your lips. All you need to do now is take a breath.
Game
You take a deep breath and blow into the recorder. A sudden slip of a finger across one of the tone holes causes a sharp, ear-piercing whistle to ring out across the stage!
Game
That was some rotten luck, as you know you can do better. Before carrying on with your performance, you should take a moment, just enough to calm your nerves.
Game
You take a moment to center yourself, fingers now poised with precision. You blow, but no sound escapes, as though the instrument were blocked or silenced by an unseen force!

Game
You give the recorder a quick inspection, but nothing about it appears overtly broken or out of place. Determined, you grip it with frustration and force a note through!
Game
Notes flow from the recorder at last; however, they are all reversed! This leads to a cacophony of untrained sounds that billow among the patrons, prompting yet another donation of fruit to be tossed onto the stage,
Game
Reversed tones? This must be some fae prank, Is there a pixie hiding inside the recorder? You should open it and find out.
Game
You open the recorder and remove the mouthpiece, peering inside. There does not appear to be a pixie inside, and the act draws a chuckle from the crowd.
Game
After replacing the mouthpiece, you decide to take a calm and delicate approach, blowing faintly into the instrument in hopes of eliciting a soft note. What follows is a horrendous, ear-piercing screech that nearly deafens the crowd! This results in yet another donation splattering across the stage.
Game
This cannot be how your first performance goes. Determined to show your actual talent, you must try to push forward!
Game
Fed up with the instrument, you inhale deeply and blow into it with all your might... but the recorder wrenches free from your hands and clatters to the stage floor! You fumble to snatch it back, heart racing.
Game
Suddenly, a generous donation splats against you, coating you in a fruity residue. Things are getting out of hand, quite literally. You could take a breath to center yourself and continue, or simply end this farce by taking a bow.
Game
You decide you have had enough of this mockery, having received plenty of so-called donations from the patrons of the Willows Whisper, Despite the crushing performance, you take an awkward bow.
Pine Brightreed seems to be beside himself with joy as be beckons you over.

I must confess, I was just having a bit of fun. I have no doubt that you're talented, seeing as you did manage to pick out the one instrument in the pile that remained intact.

Hey, now this is a surprise! Who told you this was my favorite drink? Ahh, no matter. I'm glad that there aren't any hard feelings between us!
Great timing, too, as I'm just about to put on one of my great acts! Stick around and maybe you'll learn a thing or two from a master bard!
Pine Brightreed proceeds to down the entire glass of wine in a rather uncouth display. He hands you back the empty glass and shoots you a wink before making his way to the stage.
Pine Brightreed stumbles out onto the stage, looking as though he is about to lose his balance.
Hellooo, everyone! Let's give a big round of applause to our next performer! You all know and love them! It's Pine! That's me!
When I hear Naerith sing, I know it's just for me. She's so enchanting...
I have to warn you, my head is really throbbing today. It's getting to be a little Pine-ful!
Maybe it has something to do with this altitude. We're so far up in the sky, it's a wonder we aren't called High Elves!
Pine Brightreed looks out expectantly at the crowd, who regard him with unimpressed skepticism.
I've been wondering if we've spent enough time up in the elderspires. Maybe it's about time we branched out a little more!
Ahh, who am I kidding? I love this community/ We're all rooted in culture and history!
Pine Brightreed beckons to the crowd for a reaction, but all he receives in response is a series of disturbed groans.
Oh come on, that was a good one! If you think you can outdo me, I dare you to come up here and be a better treant-ertainer!
Anyway... did any of you catch that thick fog that rolled in the other night? I tried to, but I mist!
Pine Brightreed sways so far to one side that he nearly topples over, struggling to catch his footing and right himself.
Enough groaning! I might as well go join the Circle of Spores... since I'm a real fun-guy!
Pine Brightreed outstretches his arms, expecting applause. Instead, he receives a torrent of generous, fruity donations that knock him off his unsteady feet.

It's what the Wanderers excel at, I must say! Who better to spread the arts and words of our people than performers such as ourselves? Even if a little magic tends to get mixed into our lyrics from time to time.
The job I have for you involves a dispute with the residents of the Whispering Pools. Do you know the place?
They're the caves behind the eastern waterfall where the naiads dwell. Supposedly they're led by a powerful water nymph who they refer to as Mistress Naelira.
I've heard from reliable sources that the naiads are trying to spread their influence outside the pools, which goes against their pact with Queen Sylneira.
This is obviously upsetting to a number of Faelindral's groups, one in particular being the Ardent Keepers.
So, we're going to go in there as a happy neutral party and see if we can determine what's got them so eager to get out, and what we might be able to do to appease them.
Are you interested?
You say
You enter/say I am interested.
Sylphrena Starfall claps her hands together excitedly!
Oh, how lovely! Now, before you go diving head first into their caves, you should be warned... the naiads are notoriously ruthless to their guests!
There's a good chance that even dipping a toe into one of their pools will have a hoard of angry faeries trying to tear your mind apart from the inside out.
That's why we're going to have to put together a little disguise before you can wander safely through the Whispering Pools and negotiate with their leader.
Bring the letter I gave you downstairs to Laenyth. She has the most experience with those water faeries, and also knows a trick or two about illusions. She'll get you sorted for the job!

Laenyth Windharp offers you a pleasant smile as she dips her gaze to read over the letter, her brow aising a touch.
Sleeper's dream! You're heading into the Whispering Pools? You have quite the task ahead of you, my friend. The naiads can be a terrifying foe if you're on their bad side.
.. Which I suppose is why Sylphrena has sent you to me. I have, in the past, managed to spend time among the naiads by appealing to their connection to water.
I learned much while I mingled with the water nymphs, though I dared not approach their Mistress Naelira.
She's quite powerful, and I had a suspicion that she saw straight through my magics... yet she did not raise an alarm simply for her own amusement.
That's neither here nor there, however! I'm to help you create a potion that allows you to take on an aspect of water, so that you may safely traverse the Whispering Pools.
Here's a recipe that you can follow, along with a special tear that you'll need for this particular potion. If you see anything that you don't recognize, you need only ask me.
Show me your completed potion once you've finished assembling it. Don't worry if you haven't worked with alchemy before, Simply combine these materials in a cauldron and I'll handle the rest.
Game
To craft a potion of River's Allure, you must gather the following reagents and mix them within an alchemist's cauldron:
Game
A dyad of Selstie kelp,
Game
A pentad of river essence,
Game
A dyad of fish oil-crude, not fine,
Game
A single Siren's Tear,
Game
A Tempered Vial.
You say
You enter/say Where can I find Selstie kelp?
Selstie kelp is typically found at the bottom of rivers. There should be some located here in the Weald, though you may need strong lungs in order to harvest it.
You say
You enter/say What is river essence?
You'll need to collect some of the river's essence from the manifested elementals that live in the river itself.
Though do be careful, as some of them seem rather... confused of late. It may be related to a plot of the naiads.
You say
You enter/say What about Crude Fish Oil?
Fish oil comes from, well, fish! If you cannot find any for sale, you could always take up a bit of fishing.
You'll need to find at least four fish to get any meaningful amount of oil, then extract it into a makeshift vial using an alchemist's cauldron. Do this enough to fill two vials and you should have what's needed for the potion.
You say
You enter/say Where can I get the vial?
Tempered vials should be sold directly from the alchemists shop. The Well of Order is where you'd find them here in Faelindral; it's just across from the bank.
Note: Cauldron recipe only takes Whitefish

Ah, well done! You've made plenty here, enough for more than one potion. Let me just apply the finishing touches...
Laenyth Windharp pours a small amount of the mixture into a separate flask as she sings an enthralling melody, her voice causing the mixture to glow with a magical blue aura. Once finished, she offers the potion to you.
You'll need to drink this potion while you're under the waterfall concealing the naiad's home. It should temper any of their immediate hostility toward you. If you run out and require any more, bring me the empty potion and I'll refill it for you.
Hopefully this helps you in your task, <character>. The Whispering Pools are beautiful, but dangerous. Do take care, especially around Mistress Naelira.

You
Hail, Mistress Naelira.
Mistress Naelira regards you with an icy gaze that could freeze the very blood in your veins.
Game
Despite her cold demeanor, her words sing upon your ears like the gentle lapping of waves agai a shore.
Quite rare and even bold for one such as yourself to seek an audience with me. I see through that feeble magic of yours, though I admit it's rather entertaining." Mistress Naelira dips her gaze to the lute you bought, her eyes briefly lighting up with interest.
Are you a performer?
You say
You enter/say Yes, I am a performer
Is that so? Then show me that instrument of yours if you believe you're worthy to perform for the Lady of Sirens.
Mistress Naelira inspects the lute with a enchanting, sapphire gaze. Icy fingers trace down the neck of the lute and across the strings, causing them to tighten and contract due to the chill of her touch.
Mistress Naelira strums her fingers across the chilled chords. The lute offers a final, feeble note before the pressure becomes too much to bear and a string suddenly snaps. It coils up against itself after an abrupt twang.
Mistress Naelira sighs in disappointment and tosses the broken lute back to you.
I'm not impressed with your instrument, bard. Certainly not now with a missing string. I'll only accept entertainment from the finest of amusements. I can't be appeased by such a meager lute that's so obviously in need of.. improvement.
Game
You sniffle, tears in your eye.
You say
You enter/say My.. my lute!

You glare at Mistress Naelira.
You say
You enter/say What improvement?
Eager to be my plaything, aren't you? If you're that determined to repair your so-called instrument and play for me, then perhaps you can seek out someone capable of weaving better strings.
Your Faelindral is filled with artisans of all kinds, is it not? I'm sure one of them could fashion some new, stronger lute strings for you.
Use that precious voice of yours and ask around for lute strings that aren't so delicate or flimsy.
Now begone, lest I choose to feed you to my other pets.

Laenyth Windharp proceeds to infuse another potion with an enthralling melody.

You
Hail, Flerri Dawntender the Tailor.
We've got the finest silks and weaves around! Take a look and let me know if anything interests you!
You say
You enter/say Do you have any lute strings?
Lute strings? Well that's an interesting request... very interesting. You know, I've been meaning to try my hand at making something that is both fine and durable.
This would be a good test of that, I imagine. I'd be more than happy to string something together for you!
Flerri Dawntender the Tailor chuckles softly at her own little joke before letting out a sigh.
Sorry, I just got back from one of Pine's performances.
The thing is, I don't really have the materials in stock to make something requiring that much tension. I do have one idea, but that's... no, it's far too dangerous.
You say
You enter/say Ohh, I like it dangerous!
Well, I'm sure you know that the spiders in Evershade have some fairly common and useful silk. But I've heard there are larger brown recluse spiders that hide out in Keepers Bight!
Supposedly they're as large as a horse with silk of steel! That's not all, though. There's tales of a rare one.. an even larger recluse that must have silk like mithril!
If you could somehow get me some of that silk, I'd surely be able to weave a set of strings that would last you a lifetime! Just... be careful if you do go out there.

Flerri Dawntender the Tailor sets to work pulling and shaping the impressively durable silk into long, glimmering threads.
Flerri Dawntender the Tailor uses her shears to cut the rare thread into suitable lengths, then guides them through the bridge of the broken lute.
Game
She pulls the strings taut up along the neck and wraps them securely around each peg.
There, that should do it! What do you think? It may need a little tuning, but I'm sure these strings will last longer than the lute body will!
I hope you don't mind if I keep some of the spare silk here; I'd love to work on some new projects with it. Of course, I'll also swing by the Willow at some point to hear you play!

You
Hail Mistress Naelira
Ah, the prospective entertainment returns. Have you procured an instrument worthy of performing for me, bard? Let me see it.
Mistress Naelira purses her lips as she regards the newly strung lute, subjecting it to the same test she performed previously.
Mistress Naelira strums her icy digits along the rare strings, eliciting a beautiful and harmonious note from the instrument.
I suppose this will have to do. Very well, bard. I shall permit you to enthrall us with a dazzling performance. Here's your lute along with a token of my favor.
Enter the line of my ensemble and look out from your next stage, dear bard. When you're ready to begin, be sure to take a bow.
Game
You end your overwhelming performance with a sweeping, flourished bow. Sweat runs down your brow as you pant for some much-needed breath.
Game
The naiads all stare incredulously at you, before looking back to their Mistress to gauge her reaction.
Game
You also turn your gaze up to witness an overly flustered nymph, now sporting cheeks that are far deeper in hue than they once were.
Game
Naelira's gaze leaps from you to her servants, then back to you again.
Game
She places a hand on her hip and lets out a petulant huff, casting her gaze to the side. Her other hand extends out toward you expectantly.
Your lute and my favor, bard. Return them to me. You should be rewarded for a... suitably entertaining performance.
Mistress Naelira snatches both the favor and lute from your grasp, offering and indignant huff. The crowd of onlooking naiads softly giggle among themselves following the reaction of their mistress, which earns them a dagger-like stare from the flustered water nymph.
Mistress Naelira proceeds to turn her attention back to your lute and sings a gentle, melodious harmony upon it that infuses it with siren magic. She then offers the instrument back to you, along with an upturned nose.
You performed admirably, bard, and I am...impressed. You've shown me that there's reason yet to linger in these pools, but don't think you're the only reason I'm encouraged to stay!
Now begone from my sight until I'm in need of further entertainment.

Completion summary
Sylphrena Starfall blinks in surprise as you hand her the enchanted lute.
Game
Her hand runs down along the neck as she inspects the strings, seeming to notice the magic that has been woven into the instrument.
Insertname, this is magnificent! An instrument blessed by the water nymphs of the Whispering Pools? You must be an incredible negotiatior!
I'm thrilled you managed to appease them, at least for a time. Fae can be terribly fickle and prone to whimsy that can sometimes turn violent.
I had my full trust in you, though, and this outcome only reinforces that decision!
This lute belongs to you, without a doubt. Perhaps you'll try your hand at another show on the Willow's stage...No curses this time, promise!
Well, I'll let you make that choice. I don't have anything more for you, but check back in from time to time. I'm sure I could think of some ways to put that enchanted lute of your to good use for the Lambent Wanderers.
